Joshua Robert Farris, 33, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away on Sunday evening, April 11, 2021, peacefully at home with his loving family by his side after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
He was born in Waterville on May 11, 1987, a son of Russell and Tracy (Shirley) Farris.
Josh was a graduate of Cheverus High School, class of 2005. He went on to study at the University of Southern Maine, where he joined Phi Kappa Sigma, becoming known as “Gus”, and making lifetime friendships with his brothers. Josh would later graduate from Southern Maine Community College in 2016 with a degree in Computer Sciences.
Josh married his wife Rachael Oliari on September 10, 2015 going onto celebrate the wedding the next September with friends and family. He was employed by Southworth Products in Falmouth for several years as a Helpdesk Extraordinaire. Josh was grateful for all the support they, especially from his boss, Peter Gillman, offered throughout his journey.
Josh had many interesting hobbies. He was a self-taught woodworker, enjoyed spray painting in a variety colors and designing his own tattoos. He also liked to go biking, completing the Trek Across Maine twice, spending time at his aunt’s camp enjoying the Maine summer’s, and could be found outside working on his many gardens and projects.
He was predeceased by his mother-in-law and biological father.
He is survived by his wife Rachael Farris, his parents Tracy and Geoff Burr, brothers Nicholas Farris and his wife Ashley, and Geoffrey Burr, sisters Amanda Collins and Olivia Burr. Sister-in-law Erica Potter and her husband Gregory, and brother-in-law, Matthew Oliari. His aunts, Bobbi Shirley and husband Michael Harriman, Kathleen and John Bickford, and Christine and Dwane Williamson. He is also survived by nieces and nephews Khloe, Owen, Madelyn and Emma. Oh and of course, we cannot forget about his beloved cats Sophie and Noodles.
