Steven Jay Cohen PHILADELPHIA, PA - Dr. Steven Jay Cohen passed away peacefully October 26, 2018 at his home in Philadelphia, PA with his family by his side. He was born on January 13, 1952 in Charlotte, NC and was a graduate of Myers Park High School. Steven attended The University of North Carolina Charlotte and then graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He was a doctor of optometry for 35 years and loved his work - so much so, many patients and friends just called him "Doc". Steven was an avid lover of all things in nature. He enjoyed singing, playing guitar and loved James Taylor's music. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 40 years Christine Donatelli-Cohen. He was the loving father of Joshua (Jane) Cohen, and Deborah Cohen; son of Ruth Cohen and the late Mel Cohen; brother of Jeff (Sherry), Doug (Ashli), and Adam (Cooper). He is also survived by his sister-in-law Bernadette (Rich) Fabrizio, nephews Nicholas (Patti), Dylan, Sam, Mitchell, and Ethan Cohen, and Jason Hildebrand; nieces Tate Cohen and Kate Fabrizio; Uncle Henry (Judy) Goldman and Aunt Anita Grey. Funeral services will be privately held by family and friends. The family asks that donations be made to Defenders of Wildlife (defenders.org)
