TORRINGTON
Deborah (Howard) Tartaglia, 58, of Roulin Street, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Debbie was born in Waterbury on Dec. 20, 1950, daughter of the late Walter and Vida (Brown) Howard. She was raised in Bethlehem.
Debbie graduated from Watertown High School and Kaynor Technical School of Nursing. She lived in Oakville for many years before moving to Torrington 10 years ago.
She was a licensed practical murse and was employed in the health-care industry for many years; most recently she was a nurse at the Connecticut Junior Republic in Litchfield. Before moving to Torrington, she was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in Watertown.
Debbie was an avid collector of dolls. She enjoyed painting and making jewelry and doing arts and crafts.
She is survived by two sons, Joseph J. Tartaglia of Thomaston, and Scott C. Tartaglia of Plymouth; three daughters, Becky Matthews, Kristy Osborne and Tracy Tartaglia, all of Oakville; a sister, Joan Demers of Bethlehem, and five grandchildren, Dilan Mathews, Emalyn Osborne, Samantha Pagano, Brendan Mathews and Lexie Elouise Osborne. She also leaves her longtime companion,
David Koplar of Torrington.
Memorial services will be held 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main St., Watertown. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until the time of the service.
