- [S216] Obituary - Patricia Keating, (News Times), http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/newstimes/obituary.aspx?n=Patricia-Keating&pid=182794492.
Pat Keating, 77, died peacefully at her home surrounded by family on November 22, 2016.
Pat was born October 17, 1939, in New Milford, CT the daughter of the late John Joseph Keating and Theresa O'Neill Keating Smithwick. She graduated from New Milford High School in CT; earned her undergraduate degree from Newton College of the Sacred Heart in MA; and earned her Masters from West Conn.
After growing up in New Milford, Pat became a world traveler who spent many of her single years living in Rome. After marrying and having children, she spent four wonderful years on the island of Jamaica and returned to raise her family in Lakeville. Pat was a favorite teacher of countless students in Newton, Rome, Wolcott, Jamaica and Lakeville. Her regular trips to Ireland with her sisters, to Rome with her best friend, and to tag sales anywhere always created quite a stir. She eventually settled back into her ancestral home on Elm Street, where she was always receiving visits from friends representing the many facets of her life.
Pat was known as a great storyteller. Her stories, like her, were always larger than life. There will no doubt be 'Zelda' stories shared for many years to come in the most obscure places.
Pat was predeceased by her son, Dean Chandler Durbrow.
Pat is survived by her daughter, Kirsten Durbrow of Lakeville, CT; her sisters, Colleen Keating Marks of Oakland, CA; Alanna Keating of Branford, CT; her brothers, Michael Keating of Jasper, GA; Kevin Keating of Little Silver, NJ; her sister in love Linda Keating of Little Silver, NJ; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and a very special great nephew and great niece who adored her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 3, at 12 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church 26 Chestnut Land Road New Milford. A celebration of her life will immediately follow at 19 Main St. in New Milford. There will be a private burial at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Diebold Cancer Center at New Milford Hospital 21 Elm Street New Milford, CT 06776.
