      Hagerstown, MD ? Mr. Richard O. Kurtz, 78 died Friday, November 9, 2018 at Doey?s Hospice House
      A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Beth Elohim Cemetery in Georgetown, SC with Rabbi Avi Perets officiating.
      A native of Rock Hill, SC he was the son of the late Albert and Sylvia Kurtz. He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in business finance and later with a Masters Degree in Banking. After a decade in the banking industry he became involved with the insurance industry and helped expand General Insurance Agency into one of the largest agencies in the Northeast and incorporated as Senior Benefit Services, Inc. He was very active within his community and held positions on multiple boards.
      Described as one of the kindest men he was known simply as ?Pops? to so many people whose lives he touched. After a very successful career he retired and focused on spending time with his wife of 55 years and his two grandchildren.
      Surviving are his wife, Bunky Kurtz of Hagers-town, his son David Kurtz of Charleston, his daughter-in-law Priya Kurtz of Charleston, and two grandchildren Adyson Kurtz and Connor Kurtz.
      The family asks that in lieu of flowers that a donation be made to Doey?s House c/o Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD
      Arrangements are entrusted to the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD.
