BREEN, Tracy Carlton Mr. Tracy Carlton Breen, 84, of Judson Ave. in Woodbury, died peacefully early Tuesday morning (June 3, 2008), at his home. He was the husband of Jane (Bentley) Breen. Mr. Breen was born in Waterbury, November 6, 1923, a son of the late Tracy W. and Elizabeth (Devine) Breen and was a graduate of St. Francis Grammar School and Naugatuck High School. He had been a Naugatuck resident for most of his life, moving to Heritage Village in 1996 and to Woodbury 2004. He was active in the Naugatuck community all of his life, continuing the co-ownership of the family business Breen's, Inc., located on Church St. until his retirement in the late 80's. He also was the co-owner of Artcraft Memorial's, local Monument Company, until his retirement. He also was the co-owner of the Traymar Motel in Chester, VT. Tracy was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, with Battery C. 433rd Field Artillery Battallion, and had served in the Southern Philippines and Luzon. He had received the Good Conduct Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Philippines Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Service Star, and the Victory Medal. While a resident of Naugatuck, he had been a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and while a resident of Woodbury, attended St. Teresa's Church. Mr. Breen was formerly very active with the Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce and was a member of Crusader Post #1946, V.F.W. and American Legion Post 17 both of Naugatuck. He was a member of the Naugatuck Lodge # 967 and a member of Woodbury Lions Club. While a Naugatuck resident he had been a member of the Naugatuck Lions Club for many years. Tracy enjoyed people and his family, and making new friends. He also enjoyed Dancing and listening to Big Band music and his friendship with Steve Lippia. Besides his wife of 59 years, he leaves a son, Tracy P. Breen and his wife JoAnn of Torrington; one grandson Tracy F. Breen also of Torrington. His funeral will be held on Friday at 8:30 a.m. from the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 210 Meadow St. to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. Burial with full Military Honors will be in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8 p.m., In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Connecticut Hospice Home Care, 270 Farmington Ave. # 229, Farmington, 06032.
